Writing for Salon, Curtis Morrison, a self-titled “liberal activist,” admits to bugging Mitch McConnell’s office. He claims to have been inspired by Julian Assange and claims, “If given another chance to record him, I’d do it again.”

“Earlier this year, I secretly made an audio recording of Sen. Mitch McConnell, the most powerful Republican on the planet, at his campaign headquarters in Kentucky. The released portion of the recording clocks in at less than 12 minutes, but those few minutes changed my life,” writes Morrison.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) declined Friday afternoon to meet a Senate Finance Committee deadline for answering detailed questions about the origins of the IRS scandal. “This is an agency that revolves around making the American taxpayer meet hard deadlines each and every year when they file their taxes, oftentimes penalizing those that are late.

The Internal Revenue Service has told House GOP investigators they have identified 88 IRS employees who may have documents relevant to the congressional investigation into targeting of conservative groups, according to a congressional source familiar with the investigation. Shuanghui International Holdings Ltd., China’s biggest pork producer, agreed to acquire Smithfield Foods Inc. (SFD) for about $4.72 billion to boost supplies for the nation that’s the biggest consumer of the meat. [Do we need to question whether China, which wants to totally control us, should be trusted to keep the meat they sell to us pure and free from toxins?  Just asking.  I guess they can’t get our money from purchases is they kill us.]

Grassley: Chinese company controlling US meat supply is ‘a bit concerning’ [Guess I’m not the only one, as yesterday’s story points out.]

“This potential merger raises real food safety concerns that should alarm consumers,” DeLauro said Wednesday. “We know that Chinese food products have been a threat to public health and that Shuanghui was found to have produced and sold tainted pork. This merger may only make it more difficult to protect the food supply. I have deep doubts about whether this merger best serves American consumers and urge federal regulators to put their concerns first.”

DOJ places a chill on criticism of Islam

In its latest effort to protect followers of Islam in the U.S. the Obama Justice Department warns against using social media to spread information considered inflammatory against Muslims, threatening that it could constitute a violation of civil rights.

The move comes a few years after the administration became the first in history to dispatch a U.S. Attorney General to personally reassure Muslims that the Department of Justice (DOJ) is dedicated to protecting them.

Buried deep in an unrelated story over at the Salt Lake Tribune, we find this gem. For anyone not up to speed on this  NSA Utah Spy Center Revealed: 100 years of data stored on Americans.

As of yesterday you are a Citizen of the World with no Privacy—no matter in which country you are located.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony invite,  sent to a select group of Utah politicians and dignitaries for the massive Utah Data Centre in Bluffdale, Utah, was as mysterious as the facility itself.

“While the NSA has offered no specifics about the Utah Data Center’s operations, a 2012 Wired magazine article, citing former intelligence and NSA officials, said computers at the data center will collect electronic information—from emails to cellphone records to purchasing receipts—from all over the world—, store it and look for threatening patterns.” (emphasis CFP’s).

With the privacy of every man, woman and child on earth now ‘deleted’, as far as is known not one country has moved to litigate against NASA and the largest spy center known to mankind.
