Secretary of State John Kerry said at Wednesday’s hearing that Arab counties have offered to pay for the entirety of unseating President Bashar al-Assad if the United States took the lead militarily.

“With respect to Arab countries offering to bear costs and to assess, the answer is profoundly yes,” Kerry said. “They have. That offer is on the table.” ——————-

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday the U.S. Congress had no right to approve the use of force against Syria without a decision from the U.N. Security Council, and that doing so would be an “act of aggression”.

“They lie beautifully, of course. I saw debates in Congress. A congressman asks Mr Kerry: ‘Is al Qaeda there?’ He says: ‘No, I am telling you responsibly that it is not’,” Putin said at a meeting of his human rights council in the Kremlin.

“Al Qaeda units are the main military echelon, and they know this,” he said, referring to the United States. “It was unpleasant and surprising for me – we talk to them, we proceed from the assumption that they are decent people. But he is lying and knows he is lying. It’s sad.” ————————

While U.S. leaders continue pushing for war against the Syrian government, today “Al-Qaeda-linked rebels,”reports AP, “launched an assault on a regime-held Christian mountain village in the densely populated west of Syria and new clashes erupted near the capital, Damascus, on Wednesday…

Thus al-Qaeda terrorists eagerly await U.S. assistance against the Syrian government, so they can subjugate if not slaughter Syria’s Christians, secularists, and non-Muslims — even as the Obama administration tries to justify war on Syria by absurdly evoking the “human rights” of Syrians on the one hand, and lying about al-Qaeda’s presence in Syria on the other. ———–

2012:  “We have been very clear to the Assad regime, but also to other players on the ground, that a red line for us is we start seeing a whole bunch of chemical weapons moving around or being utilized,” the president said. “That would change my calculus. That would change my equation.” ————————

Obama and Sweden’s Prime Minister Frederik Reinfeldt held a joint press conference Wednesday in Stockholm as part of the first ever bilateral meeting between the nation’s two top leaders.

The reporter asked, “I was wondering, could you describe the dilemma to being a Nobel Peace Prize winner and getting ready to attack Syria?” —————-

During Sen. Paul’s remarks, Secretary Kerry largely avoided eye contact and instead scribbled on a nearby notepad.

“If we do not say that the Constitution applies, if we do not say explicitly that we will abide by this vote,” the senator lectured, “you’re making a joke of us. You’re making us into theater. And so we play Constitutional theater for the president.” ———————

Despite personally opposing the idea of intervening in Syria, many Democrats will no doubt support the president’s call to action because they feel obligated to save his “hide,” MSNBC host Chris Matthews said Wednesday. —————

Defense Republicans in the House are seeking to overturn deep, automatic defense spending cuts as part of the debate on whether to authorize military force against Syria, the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee said Wednesday.

Rep. Howard P. “Buck” McKeon (R., Calif.), the chairman, said in an interview that he is “pushing as hard as I can” to reverse the mandatory defense spending cuts.

“My concern is the readiness of our troops, not just on this [Syria] mission, but on the next one and the next one,” McKeon told the Free Beacon, adding that the debate over the use of force on Syria is “the best chance we have since this mess started” to reverse the cuts known as sequestration. ——————

Let’s deal first with what can only be called John Kerry’s problems with what might be called a “Bright Shining Lie.”

“Bush Lied” was a lie.

No matter.

The anti-war left sold this leftist lie like corn flakes…and they had lots of help. And one of the people who recklessly helped sell the notion that “Bush Lied” was his 2004 Democratic opponent — John Kerry. And another? Barack Obama.

“We were misled. We were given evidence that was not true.”

The truth?

There was, in fact, no evidence that George W. Bush had lied to take the nation into the war in Iraq, as reported afterwards in any number of places, this story written by an editor of the anti-Bush New Republic being but one.

The hard fact is that this was the same play that catapulted a young anti-Vietnam War John Kerry to fame in the first place. That time in his famous 1971 speech to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, in which he infamously accused his fellow soldiers as follows:

They told the stories at times they had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam in addition to the normal ravage of war, and the normal and very particular ravaging which is done by the applied bombing power of this country. ————————-

Victims of NIdal [sic] Hasan’s rampage at Ft. Hood are praising Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas) and two central Texas Republican Congressmen, John Carter and Roger Williams, for introducing the ‘Honoring the Ft. Hood Heroes Act’ which would declare that those who were shot in November of 2009 were ‘casualties of war in the face of an armed enemy,’ and were not victims of ‘workplace violence’ as the Pentagon has claimed, 1200 WOAI news reports. ——————————-
